This page will share with you the history of the Church of Christ at East Orange.  The links to the left will provide you with other information regarding our basic beliefs and style of worship.

The congregation at East Orange began worshipping together on May 6, 2001.  This was the result of a outreach of love by several congregations in the Central Florida area.  That first Sunday found fifteen people worshipping God at Columbia Elementary School.

In those early days, many preachers, youth ministers, elders, and other men took turns preaching for the congregation.  During that time, other families from supporting congregations would join us for services helping to boost our numbers and carry out the work that needed to be done.  In January of 2002 Daniel Carswell started as the first full-time minister for the congregation.  Daniel continued his ministry with East Orange until June of 2007.

June of 2002 marked the first Vacation Bible School at East Orange.  We held a one day VBS with 12 children enjoying a day filled with classes, skits, songs, crafts, and snacks.  It was a huge success for our first effort.  A great thanks went out to the Sanford youth group for their help with the skits and the classes.  That success was followed up the next year with a week long VBS.  That VBS witnessed about 20 children participating in the fun.  2004 marked our greatest success so far, with over 30 children learning more about God.

Our first Gospel meeting was held May 16-19, 2004.  Dr. Walter Person from the Sanford Church Of Christ presented lessons from God's word around the theme of the songs that we sing.

At the present, we are a congregation of about 20.    We currently have two part time ministers, Jesse Carter and Mike O'Neil.  We are purchasing 5 acres of property and plan to build a 3000 sqft. worship facility in order to better serve God and our community.
